Winged Migration

I am a huge fan of documentaries, and tonight I went to see Jacques Perrin's fantastic documentary Winged Migration for the second time. It is a near-wordless movie about the seasonal flights of migratory birds, and is filled with stunning cinematography. Much of the footage was shot from the air using specialized camera gliders and gives the sense of flying right along with the birds. It seems to me that it must have been a very expensive movie to film, with the hundreds of cinematographers stationed across far-flung lands. Even so, I sincerely hope that it becomes a commercial success; it's much easier for great documentaries to be produced if they will actually be profitable. Do your part -- go see it!
